A charming 95-year-old Cape Cod-style home in Grosse Pointe was in dire need of an exterior makeover. The paint on the old siding was peeling and the windows and front doors had become drafty.
The homeowner met with one of John McCarter Construction’s expert consultants and was impressed with our company’s ability to handle all aspects of the project – including windows, siding, the front door, and gutters – so he didn’t have to work with multiple companies. We created a schedule and got started!
A total home exterior remodel
After meeting with a member of our sales team, the client spoke with our color consultant who helped him choose hues to compliment his home including James Hardie 8 ¼ inch Cedarmill lap siding in Iron Gray and 6-inch white gutters. Cedarmill lap siding has a natural cedar look that mimics wood without the extensive upkeep. In addition to low maintenance, James Hardie fiber cement siding has exceptional curb appeal, is fade-and insect-resistant, stands up to harsh weather, and provides an excellent return on investment.
We replaced 30 windows with Pella Lifestyle windows and added a Therma-Tru front entry door in Wildflower Honey. Energy-efficient, premium Pella windows reduce noise and are weather-resistant. The glass panes contain a layer of impact-tested polymer to keep the glass from shattering, even when it breaks.
Despite the challenge of ongoing sewer and water line replacement construction on the client’s block, we were able to complete the project within the promised timeline.
